File Unit xx not Open

Memory requirement of IR6.1

You need a minimum of 469k (WSM 6.1) or 540k (WSM 6.5 or WSM 7.0) base memory for IR6.1 to run successfully. To check, go into DOS (Ctrl+D) then type in 'mem'. The types of problems you may experience if you do not have enough base memory available include:

- File unit xx not open (where xx will be a number)

- File unit errors while doing a Vendor Change, Receive All, Vendor Change or Cost Adjustment. Typical of these errors are "File Unit 34 not Open"  or "File Unit 35 not Open".

- In most of the routines "File unit 0" will be the IR Global File - if IR cannot open this file it will be due to a corrupted Global File. In most cases the Integrity Check will not pick up these problems.

- The cause of this error has been eliminated in IR6.5 and should not occur.

File Unit 99 not open

ACCPAC can only handle a maximum of 250 files and only 40 files can be open at any one time. With IR we built in a check for the existence of certain files and if these files do not exist (and the system needs to use the file), IR will give a file unit 99 error. This will only happen if the use of the file is optional (such as the interface with Job Costing) and the file is not present which IR for some reason needs to use the file.

Any file unit error with a file number bigger than 99 indicates a serious problem.
