Setting up Crystal Launcher

  1. Crystal Launcher is not a report designer or report writer. It simply allows the user to easily launch or run a Crystal Report which has already been created. The Crystal Launcher is convenient (it installs on the ACCPAC Desktop) and allows the user to enter the report ranges in a convenient and familiar fashion.
  2. A Launcher Name is a setup that matches parameter (print range) fields, runs and displays an existing Crystal Report. This program will not create new Crystal Reports. The existing Crystal Report must be available in the correct subdirectory under the Crystal Launcher program files.  See the Program Help – Technical Notes for the location of the directory.  Also see Setup menu option for the path to the RPT files.
  3. The menu option,  Setup, sets the path to the RPT (Crystal Reports) files and allows additional User Defined Fields to be added
  4. The setup of the Launcher Name allows the user to chose from a list of existing fields that match the parameter fields in the existing Crystal Report and links the Report to the Launcher Setup.  This allows the parameters for the Crystal Report to be set in the Crystal Launcher.
  5. Once a Launcher setup has been created and Launcher Fields and Parameter Fields have been matched, saving the setup will retain the matching of parameters.
  6. Parameter values will be reset if the Launcher setup is modified.  To retain an existing Launcher setup, choose Yes from the information box which appears when Modify is chosen and modify the Launcher name.  This will retain the original setup with the existing parameter values and create a new setup with the modified name.  Make any changes, set parameters, if desired, and save the modified setup.
  7. If the default range is accepted for fields in the Launcher setup, no parameter selection will be passed to the Crystal Report and all data will be displayed in the Report.
