Keynote
W. Taylor Macdonald
Taylor Macdonald is Senior Vice President,
Business Partners for Best Software U.S. Operations. Taylor is responsible
for designing and implementing programs that will leverage all U.S.
operating companies' partner channels across all U.S. products, monitor and
maximize performance of the channel, and provide standardized best practice
instruction for all channel partners. He also is in responsible for partner
recruiting, national partners and the field-based partner development
managers. Macdonald also acts as a spokesperson for Best's entire U.S.
channel activities at key industry gatherings. He joined Best Software’s
Mid-Market Division in February 1998 as Vice President, Partner Development.
Prior to joining Best, Taylor was the founder and President of Macdonald
Consulting Group (MCG) in Atlanta, Georgia, a business software-consulting
firm formed in 1990. In 1997 MCG was named Best’s Mid-Market VAR of the
Year, as well as authorized training center of the year. From 1992 to 1997
MCG was Best’s top business partner five of six years and four years in a
row. When the business was sold to other partners in early 1998, MCG had
grown to twenty-four employees and was the largest Best Mid-Market business
partner in the country and ranked among the top ten Great Plains partners in
the country.
Due to the rapid success of Macdonald Consulting and his extensive
experience with small businesses and accounting, Taylor is frequently asked
to provide insight into the areas of accounting software, business
automation, business partnering, and the accounting software industry. He is
a frequent speaker for the American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants, various state CPA Societies and other business organizations.
He has spoken at technology conferences including Comdex and NetWorld. He is
a frequent contributor to Accounting Today magazine and serves on
their editorial advisory board.
Prior to founding Macdonald Consulting Group, Taylor was the director of
Management Advisory Services for the Atlanta-based accounting firm of Smith
& Howard, PC. Taylor holds a BS degree from Yale University. In 1998 he was
named to the “Top 100 Most Influential People” in the accounting profession
by Accounting Today magazine. He was named a “Technology Star” by
Accounting Technology magazine in 1997. He is a member of the
Southeastern Software Association, where he served two terms on the board of
directors, Georgia Society of CPA’s, and on the board of directors of the
Information Technology Alliance. He lives in Atlanta with his wife Cindy and
their four children.
